The World Cup, it comes with flags of all shapes n’ sizes, it comes with the big screens, unlimited beer and car-cading, it comes with the World Cup Villages with pork on a spit, it comes with 3 matches a day for a whole month and with the ongoing Italy vs England Rivalry.
If ONLY I cared! I’m so happy that I don’t have to worry about stuff like, buying myself a t-shirt off Ebay with my name emblazoned on it, nervously waiting for it, to arrive the same afternoon I have to be at Ryans, Dubliners or anywhere else, swearing beneath my breath at being too late for good parking. I’m also happy I ain’t one of the Italian OR English supporters who has worn that t-shirt around 4 times or so before I pack it in my ‘jammies’ drawer or to now use it as a cleaning rag.
I’m also happy that I don’t update my status, with taunts or moans or cries of joy, not because the team I support didn’t go through, but because the team I hate hasn’t gone through to the finals, or about an Italian coach having screwed England’s chances, or any of that stuff. Only to be met by many comments, some of which are welcome, some of which are oozing with ‘colourful’ vocabulary…..
I’m ecstatic that I won’t hear as many horn hooters car-cading…I’m guessing the die hard fans are now drinking lemonade EXTRA strong, for both of them.
This month the amount of weddings I attended where men’s eyes were virtually glued to their phones trying to get results off live score, or where couples turned up after 10pm were uncountable.
I’d be a right “Bridezilla” if I saw people sauntering in at my wedding while the fruit kebabs are making their rounds!!! Hehehehe
Well, well I just wanted to write about the World Cup now that most of the tension is gone and I know many of you can take a joke…I hope……
I’m just having a go at all you supporters, my heart goes out to all of you.
But my heart really goes out to those Koreans who went home with a near death sentence on their head….. If I were them I’d have packed my bags, Vuvuzela included, enjoyed the rest of the World Cup and disappeared!!!
